No Split State
I see the Board of Livestock has decided against split state status for Brucellosis here in Montana. The Governor decided to let the ranching community decide and they let their feelings be known to the Board of Livestock yesterday.
n
n
After hours of rancorous debate punctuated by yelling and boos from the audience, the…

President Ready To Vote No
What does the administration think of the Senate Farm Bill?
n
n
I am pleased to have this opportunity to outline the Administration's very significant concerns about the Senate farm bill being debated on the floor of the Senate this week. The Statement of Administration Policy, or SAP as we refer to it, will be…

Food Crisis
Everybody that has read here for a while knows that I am very concerned that the push the US is seeing into ethanol and biofuels and the subsidies the government is spending on these things are endangering our food security. We have to think about what we are doing by trying to grow our fuel.…

CBM Settlement
I would really like to know who come up with this settlement.
n
n
It suggests relatively strict water quality standards for the Tongue River, in line with the state's 2006 rules. The Powder River would be subject to older, less-restrictive standards. And there would be minimal restrictions along two tributaries – Hanging Woman and…

Worst Enemy
I swear Montana Republicans are their own worst enemies. There is now a Republican Legislator suing the Governor to stop, yes I said stop, a tax rebate. The Republican party in general and Sen. John Cobb of Augusta both claim that the Governor used faulty accounting in figuring the rebate and the law needs…
