Yesterday The ranch signed up for some of the new grassland insurance they are offering. Kind of a no-brainer with the weather the way it is. We are almost guaranteed to get a payoff on the thing. Heard a couple of interesting items while I was at it.
n
nOne of my neighbors to the north of me sold all his two-year olds because he was worried about the grass situation. Another neighbor to the south sold a pot load of old cows for the same reason. Then the rumour is that the Padlock ranch leased out a big spread in Oregon and is going to ship a couple of thousand head out there because of the grass situation.
n
nI don't know. I'm really worried too but I ain't doing nothing as drastic as selling cows yet. I might have to though, well wait and see. It would be nice to find some decent pasture though but that is really hard to find.
n
nMaybe it will rain. In my dreams maybe.
n
nDespair, in short, seeks its own environment as surely as water finds its own level. A. Alvarez
