Santa's Prayer on Christmas Eve
n
nBy Warren D. Jennings
n
nThe sleigh was all packed, the reindeer were fed,
n But Santa still knelt by the side of the bed.
n
n"Dear Father," he prayed "Be with me tonight.
n There's much work to do and my schedule is tight.
n
nI must jump in my sleigh and streak through the sky,
n Knowing full well that a reindeer can't fly.
n
nI will visit each household before the first light,
n I'll cover the world and all in one night.
n
nWith sleigh bells a-ringing, I'll land on each roof,
n Amid the soft clatter of each little hoof.
n
nTo get in the house is the difficult part,
n So I'll slide down the chimney of each child's heart.
n
nMy sack will hold toys to grant all their wishes.
n The supply will be endless like the loaves and the fishes.
n
nI will fill all the stockings and not leave a track.
n I'll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
n
nI can do all these things Lord, only through You,
n I just need your blessing, then it's easy to do.
n
nAll this is to honor the birth of the One,
n That was sent to redeem us, Your most Holy Son.
n
nSo to all of my friends, least Your glory I rob,
n Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job."
