<a href="http://www.davidmsc.com/">David</a> had to <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/sarpysam/archives/000388.html">remind me</a> again about taking pictures. I truly never think about taking pictures so I never carry my camera along with me. It used to be cameras were big and bulky and you couldn't but with the new digital cameras they are getting small enough to pack around in your pocket and since I had to move more cattle today, I took it. Thought I would start out with a picture of my <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/cavvy.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/cavvy.jpg','popup','width=750,height=388,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">minuscule horse cavvy</a>. Good horses, like a good woman, are really hard to find. This might explain why the cavvy is so small, I am very particular. I found the good woman and plan on keeping her but am always on the lookout for more horseflesh. Hopefully I can find another good horse soon. The horse numbers are getting really low.<br />n<!–more–><br />nI wanted to move a <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/movecows.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/movecows.jpg','popup','width=1040,height=387,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">few cows</a>, actually around 100 head, to a new pasture. Normally I don't do it this way but with the dry weather I wanted to get some cows off the water in the Chimney Rock pasture and on to some different water. We had to gather, then <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/trail.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/trail.jpg','popup','width=651,height=515,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">trail</a> them to a corner so we could <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/mother.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/mother.jpg','popup','width=782,height=407,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">mother</a> them up before we kicked them out. You know the old saying that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, well cattle really take that to heart and if we didn't stop them, and mother them up, the cows would go through the gate and plum forget they have a calf and we would have a big wreck. The calves would go back to the other end of the pasture to look for their mama's and the mama's would not know where they were. Believe me it would be a wreck if we didn't mother them up. We brought a few to make sure we had enough and the <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/behind.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/behind.jpg','popup','width=737,height=368,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">few that were left</a> were not real happy with us.<br />n<br />nI mentioned that I had to <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/sarpysam/archives/000379.html">buy hay</a> this year. <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/alfalfa.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/alfalfa.jpg','popup','width=660,height=500,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Here</a> is the reason why. Pretty sad excuse for an alfalfa field but that's what lack of rain does. I have no irrigation so if it don't fall from the sky, I have no options. Normally this stuff would be almost 2 feet tall, bushy and thick, and you would not be able to see the ground. This is what the drought is doing to me. All my crops and grass are withering up and dying. <br />n<br />nTo end on a good note though, the buyer met my price. $1.20/pound for the steers weighing 525 pounds. We agreed to $1.13/pound for the heifers at 485 pounds. The banker, who is really plugged into the markets, said that is the absolute top of the market right now so I must have done pretty good. Now the only worry is if I have enough grass to get them to 525 pounds. Always something to worry about.<br />n<br />n<b>Worry is interest paid on trouble before it falls due. W.R. Inge </b>
