Weekend

Busy weekend. You might think it has something to do with the <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31676-2004May16.html">Bucking Horse Sale</a>, but it doesn't. That's kind of a young kids game anymore and I don't really qualify anymore. Brandings is why I was busy. Had to brand at a neighbors place to the south of me on Saturday. I took the girls along with me on that one. They enjoyed going but they really complained about having to leave the house at 4:00 in the morning. Don't blame them I don't particularly like it either.<br />n<!–more–><br />nThe youngest girl who is still learning to ride did an excellent job on the ride. It was a little longer ride, about 7 miles, but that was the reason I took her along so she would have more time to get comfortable in the saddle. It worked. Given a little more time she is going to be a hell of a horseman.<br />n<br />nSunday morning I left the girls at home, still had to leave at 4:00 in the morning, and went to a neighbors to the north of me and branded over there. All told helped brand around 1000 head of calves this weekend. Was a little tired each night. The only bad thing about these brandings was we weren't rained out. Everybody was hoping we would be, but no such luck.<br />n<br />nOnly other thing that happened was my <a href="http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/bull.jpg" onclick="window.open('http://www.nowherethoughts.net/pics/bull.jpg','popup','width=520,height=405,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">bulls</a> finally showed up. Went to a bull sale earlier this year and picked up 4 bulls. They were finally delivered late Friday night. I buy a few bulls every year so I never have to buy a whole bunch at one time. I've been feeding them in the corral since Friday but will get them branded and out on what grass there is this morning. I'm branding this weekend so all week will be spent in preparation for branding. Sure hope I get rained out.
