Outrage

Well, I seen this over at MTpolitics late last night. Now since I did not watch the game, I did't see the incident in question. I sure see by the news this morning though that it has caused quite a furor. Reading all the stories the question has become whether reaviling Janet Jackson's breast was intentional or not. Even before the show MTV was claiming Janet Jackson's Super Bowl Show Promises 'Shocking Moments' so it would appear that it was planned. Also according to the Drudge report CBS knew of the stunt and had approved it. But here we see CBS, MTV, and Justin Timberlake all apoligize for the incident and say it wasn't planned.
n<!–more–>
nAlso taking up the theme, I see stories like this which not only condem the Jackson incident, but take on the whole half time show as immoral. It didn't take op/ed pices to show up here and here to jump on the issue and condem it. I even see a story out of Canada which has the statement I most agree with in it.
n
nsubsequent photos have shown Jackson had a Chinese throwing star covering much of her nipple — meaning it was a staged publicity move
n
nNetworks and people can claim all they want that this was an accident. But unless you want me to belive that Janet Jackson always runs around with tassels on her nipples, it had to have been a staged event. You want to know what this really accomplished. Jump start Janet Jackson's career and it appears to have worked.
n
nAll this hoop-da-la about this really makes me glad I didn't watch the game. It appears that the half-time show and the commercials overshadowed the Patriots win of the Super Bowl. I'm not sure who the real loser is in this scenario, the Patriots or the American public. I would have to say it's both.
n
nBeware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow. Aesop
