Something To Cry About

You would think an announcement that the divorce rate in the US is dropping would be a good thing. To me it's not.
n
n
Report authors David Popenoe and Barbara Dafoe Whitehead said they are glad the divorce rate is on the decline, but they are worry about the children of couples who are living together without marrying.
n
n"The breakup rate of cohabiting couples is considerably higher" than that of married couples, Popenoe said. "As more and more cohabiting couples have children, that becomes more of a problem."

n
nSo, instead of making a commitment to each other and them having children, our society views it better to shack up, make no commitment, and then just abandon the children when the going gets tough. I know it happens in marriages too but not as often. People tend to try to make them work out. How sad for the children.
n
nCome weep with me, past hope, past cure, past help!
