Drinking Water

CBM water decision delayed
n
n
Rick Rice, an Ashland rancher and organizer of a group called Citizens for Resource Development, said plenty of landowners in the region want to see coalbed methane development and believe adequate safeguards for rivers are already in place. He said aquifers in his area are separate from those around coal seams, so they won't be affected by the removal of water.

n
nI would like to point out to Rick Rice that water in my area, which is not that far away from Ashland, all comes out of coal seams so to pull the water out of the coal seams will not only dry up water to my cattle, it will also leave me with no drinking water at my house. So, a closer look at the water dumped out in this CBM scheme is definitely in order.
n
nIf there is one thing that will cause controversy in Montana it's water.
n
nRiver water does not intrude into well water, but each minds its own business.
