Beef Supply Forecast

The Association warns there will be, “A world beef deficit in five years.” NBA chief executive, Robert Forster, says growth in the world economy, especially in Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the former Soviet Bloc, will increase demand for beef while the two major beef exporters, Brazil and Argentina will not be able to meet the need. “South America can no longer be regarded as a safe source of supply because continuing disease problems in Brazil, and political decisions in Argentina, have substantially increased the risk of regular supply disruptions.”

n
nThis according to Great Britain’s National Beef Association (NBA). Sounds pretty interesting. If supplies are short, prices for us producers should look pretty good. I won't say how consumers will fare. You might get upset with me.
n
nWhether the NBA is right, I don't know. It sounds to me more like a scare tactic to me but who knows, what they say about the growing demand in Southeast Asia might be true and I might be looking at good prices for a while. I can handle that but I won't count on it. I'll keep acting like thier is going to be poor prices every year. That way I won't get my hopes up.
n
nOne of the most secure markets in the world is human nature, few understand it, all have it. Jason Zebehazy
