Failure, it sounds so horrible but that's what I would call it I guess. Yesterday I watched one of the heifers mess around all day long. Not really calving but acting funny. About 10 last night I finally decided that what had happened was like on my omen heifer a few weeks ago. The calf had died in her and she was trying to sluff it. Guess what, I was right. I just walked in from pulling a dead, premature calf out of her. I had been waiting for her to start trying to expel it before I did anything and she finally did. One foot was back so it made it a little difficult, she couldn't manage on her own but we got it. Is my omen coming to pass? I don't know.
n
nOn to the success. We have two live calves on the ground all ready. They weren't supposed to technically start calving until the 10th of February but the walk home always causes a few to calve early and that's what happened.
n
n

n
nHere is one of the two new calves with his momma standing protectively over him. She sure loves him. The other one I could never get a good picture of.
n
nSo, two live ones and two dead ones total so far. Things have to improve, don't they? I don't want to have to put up with more of this failure.
n
nSuccess or failure depends more upon attitude than upon capacity successful men act as though they have accomplished or are enjoying something.
