Punky

I wish I could say there was something going on around here exciting, but there isn't. Same old routine of feeding hay to the cows every day. It is always a guessing game if it's going to be muddy or not which means it a guessing game which hay we are using, beyond that the same thing. The only thing unusual was working with my oldest daughters FFA heifer.
n
n

n
nThis is the first time she has taken a critter,Punky she calls her, and it's been a long time since I have done anything like it and it's been….interesting to say the least. She is just a calf going on yearling and is a breeding beef project. She picked her herself and managed to get one of the wildest critters in the herd. We have done almost everything I know to gentle her down and it is ever so slowly working. I told my daughter that a normal cow would be dog gentle by now but the one she managed to pick is still jumpy and wild. She is definitely getting better but is it ever slow. My daughter is going to win but there is still a lot of time involved. That's going to be hard with school starting again but we will do our best.
n
nI tried to get a good picture yesterday morning so I could post a picture from the New Year but none of them turned out, damn the bad luck. Then while Lucky and I were out for our after lunch/dinner constitutional I got a decent picture. Continue reading "Punky"
