No Happy Medium

I swear there is no happy medium in the weather any more. We went from freezing our a**es off to shirtsleeve weather all in a couple of days. Yesterday morning I woke up to rain hitting the house. I couldn't believe it. Rain in December. This is just too strange. It was soft and muddy enough that we couldn't haul hay from home over to the cows. We feed some hay that was closer but feeding on the soggy snow and mud is not a lot of fun.
n
nThe damn bad thing is it's supposed to stay this way for a week now. What snow we have will melt off and soak into the ground, which is good, but will leave the ground bare to freeze up with the eventual cold weather to come and not accept any later moisture very well, which is bad. I really feel bad for the wheat farmers whose fields are going to bare off and lose the protective cover of snow over their wheat.
n
nNot much we can do about the situation though. Curse it and accept what is happening. We can't control the weather. Damn it. The only good thing I can see in the whole thing is the chickens are finally leaving the coop.
n
n

n
nAbout time, it's getting pretty foul in there. You can just see the water standing in the picture. Not December weather, how miserable.
n
nA man's as miserable as he thinks he is. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
