I thought the purpose of a newspaper, besides making money, was to inform and educate. The Gazette sure dropped the ball in this mission with today's editorial. Let me help them a little bit.
n
nNuclear/Atomic Power- Energy released from an atom in a controlled manner to produce useful work normally associated with electricity production.
n
nThe Gazette editorial states;
n
nGazette opinion: Hiroshima reminder of atomic power, peril
n
nSo are they saying we dropped a nuclear power reactor on Hiroshima? We all know we dropped a nuclear weapon on Hiroshima which is a completely different beast than a nuclear reactor.
n
nNuclear explosion- Energy released from an atom in an uncontrolled manner used as a weapon of war.
n
nI really think the Gazette is showing their ignorance here on the facts of the situation and are not informing and educating the public properly. This just shows their ignorance on this matter. They keep equating nuclear power with nuclear weapons.
n
n
Hiroshima and Nagasaki demonstrated the devastating force of atomic weapons. Most Americans and Japanese surveyed today say that no nation should strike first with nukes. Perhaps, this generation has learned something from the past about nuclear power.

n
nHow sad when the paper can't get the facts right.
n
nIgnorance, the root and stem of all evil.
