Excuse Me

Sue DeLoretto-Rabe's 10-year-old son, Kyle, was killed in May 2002 after the ATV he was riding flipped on top of him. His mother said the salesman never mentioned the potential dangers.
n
n"We were horribly uninformed," said DeLoretto-Rabe, of Turner, Ore.

n
nExcuse me, but if you didn't know this was a possibility you must live under a rock or something. ATV safety is real easy, any kind of motorized vehicle is dangerous so don't put your kids on it until they are ready. This isn't rocket science,. this is common sense. Even once they are old enough accidents can happen and kill them. Understand that and accept it, don't blame the salesman or the manufacturer or the Government. Stand up and take responsibility for your decisions. But I guess Americans now days can't do that.
n
nMy responsibility to myself, my neighbors, my family and the human family is to try to tell the truth. That ain't easy. There are so few truth-speaking traditions in this society in which the myth of "Western civilization" has claimed the allegiance of so many. Toni Cade Bambara
