Handout

I see according to Courtney Lowery the lowered water tables in wells, low spring flows, and extremely dry timber doesn't a drought make. Nope dumb ranchers aren't still dealing with drought affects at all.
n
n
we can't help but wonder if some folks are hanging on to the "drought" designation because if that goes, the natural disaster help from Uncle Sam goes too.

n
nShe thinks we are just looking for a handout by still saying it's a drought. I'm happy for all the moisture but you can still see the affects of the drought all over and I just heard the other day with all the moisture we've had we are still below normal on our precipitation. But that's not a drought, we just want a handout says Courtney.
n
nPeople say I'm cynical, that is really cynical. Understanding some basic meteorology helps understand we are still affected by drought, even with the rain we've been having. I don't want to call it a drought anymore but I realize it still is. But the last thing I want is a handout and I resent the implication that I do.
n
nIf we take the route of the permanent handout, the American character will itself be impoverished.
