I was in the big city (Billings) today so my oldest could get looked at for getting braces for her teeth. No major problems with her mouth, just straighten them so they look better. I won't say that the cost floored me since it was in the ball park of what I expected but it just strikes me that it is going to cost me approximately 10 calves to pay for it. That's a chunk of change.
n
nThey were laying out the cost for me, so much at the first visit, then a large downpayment, then a payment plan for the remainder. Just as they finished speaking I asked "Is there a cash discount if I pay up front?" The gal looked up at me and asked "You're a rancher aren't you?" I answered in the affiramative and she informed me there was a 5% cash discount if I paid upfront. Now what being a rancher had to do with it I am not sure but the whole conversation struck me as funny.
n<!–more–>
nThe real momentous thing that happened though was I meet my first fellow Montana blogger in person. I stopped at (confedential) and Randy helped me. He recognized me from my name among other things and introduced himself. It's real good to put a face to the Secular Franciscan.
n
nWhen writers meet they are truculent, indifferent, or over-polite. Then comes the inevitable moment.
