Well, the worrying begins again for another year. Our stretch of heat we have had, which some perversely like, but many (here, here, here, here) rightly find it oppressing, has lead to one of those reasons I hate hot weather.
n
nNATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BILLINGS MT
n220 PM MDT SUN JUL 18 2004
n
n…FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 12 PM MONDAY TO 6 AM MDT TUESDAY
nFOR PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL MONTANA…ALL OF SOUTHEAST MONTANA…AND NORTHWEST SOUTH DAKOTA…
n
nand
n
nTHIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND
nSOUTHEAST MONTANA.
n
n.DAY ONE…
n
nNO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
n
n.DAY TWO THROUGH SEVEN…
n
nTHUNDERSTORM INTENSITY WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE AREA AHEAD OF
nA COLD FRONT TOMORROW AFTERNOON. VERY WARM TEMPERATURES THE PAST
nSEVERAL DAYS HAS ALLOWED FOR INCREASING FIRE DANGERS.
n
nI won't bore you with all the details of the forecast, but fire season is here which gives me another something to worry about. After last years devastaing 30,000+ acre burn in my area, I have a new respect for this summerly menace we face in Montana. The only positive I can see this year is the grass is so short that it will be very hard to burn in it very fast which should make a fire a little easier to control.
n
nThe downside is my Darling Wife will get very upset with me. Her opinion is that every time some clouds start to build I start keeping my eye on them and the weather to the exclusion of a lot of other things. She always tells me I obsess about the situation. I think obsess is a little strong word for it. A better description would be to pay very, very close attention to the situation. Hopefully I will get to worry for no reason this time.
n
nWorry is interest paid on trouble before it falls due. W.R. (William Ralph) Inge
