Riding Along

Going ons around the ranch. The Insurance adjuster showed up on Thursday to look at the hay fields. Most of them she rated as 0 production since they were "mechanically unharvestable." I had to agree. There is about 100 acres though that are sub-irrigated that the adjusted amount of production is over the guarantee so I am going to have to harvest it to get the actual production on it. Will start next week. Only about 100 acres will only take a couple of days so no big deal. Except I noticed the tractor had a flat tire on it. Have to call a repair man to get it fixed. If it ain't one thing it is another.
n<!–more–>
nMoved some cattle today from one pasture to another. They had ate the grass down enough in the pasture they were in so time to move them to the next one. Hate to graze the grass too short. It isn't good for the long term health of the grass. Also if you leave a little you have some for another year and works as an insurance policy. The girls rode along and helped today.
n
nThe oldest one found out what happens when the horse swaps ends and the rider doesn't. The rider has a sudden meeting with the ground. She is fine, just got her pride hurt. The younger one is making great progress on her riding. She did great today. She used to be afraid to trot. During one wreck during the ride we had to trot over a mile to get to where we needed to be and she kept right up. I am proud of both my girls and the help they provide me while riding. They are going to be great cowboys.
n
nTreat a horse like a woman and a woman like a horse. And they'll both win for you. Elizabeth Arden
