Yesterday was one of those days where I saw lots of different things that I don't normally see. I know, somebody is going to say why didn't you take a picture? Some of them I was never close enough to take a good picture, but they were a heck of a sight to me.
n
nTo start out with I will point out is was cold yesterday morning. I should amend that and say it was chilly all day long. The hired man earlier this month went down south and picked up his kids, boys 7 & 9, and brought them back since he gets them in the summer. They live during the school year in Louisiana so they are used to a little warmer temperatures than we have been having lately. So now that the background is laid, I sent the hired man out to do some fencing and I wandered past where he was working and had to laugh. It was cold enough that he had started a fire and the boys were huddled around the fire trying to stay warm. I thought to myself that it is pretty bad when on the 18th of June you have to light a fire to stay warm. What a sight.
n<!–more–>
nThen on my way home I saw another unique sight. For a few years now there has been a pair of cranes visiting the place and living every summer. Now I am pretty sure they have raised young ones but I have never seen them before. Well I finally saw one. They were all three out in the pasture, by the road, and they were as shocked as I was when I came driving along. The baby ran towards what I assume was the mother while the other took off and flew in front of me to try to get my attention and draw it away from the baby. What a sight and sound. You should here the sounds these birds make. It is neat.
n
nI had to go back out and do something and saw my last sight. There is an old dead tree along a seldom used road I was going out on that a hawk has decide to build a nest in. It has been there a couple of years but yesterday was the first time I ever seen a baby in it. There was a parent sitting on the edge of the nest and you could see the baby's white feathered head looking about. What a sight.
n
nBehold a worthy sight, to which the God, turning his attention to his own work, may direct his gaze. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
