Cruelty

Animals have feelings. I know this from working with them. They get mad, tired, cranky, and depressed, just like humans. I just don't understand how sentencing kids to "read a book about animals' feelings" can adequately convey to them anything about animals feelings. It takes a lot of time, study, and empathy to see and understand an animals feelings and a book, I don't feel, can portray this. Should the kids have performed this experiment? No. To kill something just to kill it is wrong.
n
nI sure wish these kids would come clean my chicken coop though. That is a dirty, miserable job that I hate to do.
n
nAll cruelty springs from weakness. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
