Ronald Reagan, 40th president, of the United States, dies at age 93
n
nI won't say I was shocked by this announcement when I heard on my way home from branding, he was very sick, but it did cause me to remember the politician he was. There were a lot of people that didn't like him and a lot of people think he is the greatest President that ever lived. I think he was a good President. Where he excelled was in his ability to make Americans have faith in themselves again.
n
nI remember the 70's fairly well. My kids ask me sometimes about it and I tell them that it was a weird time. All the different things that were going against the US just made everybody depressed. What I remember was that Americans lost faith in themselves. From our involvement in Vietnam to Watergate to Saigon falling to inflation with no employment called stagflation to high interest rates to Iraq hostage crises, Americans lost faith in who they were and what made them great. Somehow Ronald Reagan brought back to us that we were a great nation and to move past our problems and we did. He inspired us to be better than we were and to hold our heads high, and we did. He inspired us to have faith in ourselves.
n
nThis is what we should all remember at this time. Hold your head high and be proud of who you are, just like Ronald Reagan always was. It might not always be popular, but it is right.
n
nMy fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you I just signed legislation which outlaws Russia forever. The bombing begins in five minutes. Ronald Reagan
