I found this story humorous/interesting. I have no particular feelings for Missoula as a city one way or the other. Now if you want to talk about the University itself as compared to the shining example of higher education in Bozeman, it might be a little different story, but that is beside the point. The article states that Missoula is the No. 1 small town in the nation. Now to a Montanan, Missoula is not a small town. A small town might be more like Two Dot or Ryegate. We consider Missoula it a city. I just can't imagine a city the size of Missoula being considered a small town. Don't get me wrong, I have been to "big cities" and they are just wierd/awsome/crowded places that a rube like me find bewildering. I mean why would people want to live in such a place? I truly understand why people live in such a place but it's still bewildering to me.
n
nIt is always kind of funny to me the difference in attitudes that leads some people to say that Missoula, or Billings for that matter, is a small town while we who live here consider them big cities. I guess it just shows the cultural divide that exists in our society between those of us that live in a sparsely populated area and those who live in a more congested enviroment. As to who has it better, I might be a little prejudiced. but I think living in Montana's sparsely populated areas is the only way to live.
n
nFight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.
