Rain Update

A beautiful moisture event moved across the State of Montana for the past couple of days and guess who didn't get any moisture out of it? If you guessed me, you're right. I used to be able to handle these little things that a person has absolutely no control over very philosophically by saying "it is what it is and you just have to deal with it." It's getting harder all the time though. This calender year we have received less than 1/2 inch of moisture. The only saving grace at this point was the big blizzard last December that dumbed a couple of feet of snow on us. With out that moisture I would have nothing.
n<!–more–>
nI was out looking around yesterday and what alfalfa I had, that up until then was finding enough moisture to grow with, was frozen down by the cold temperatures so bad that it is going to have to start again from scratch and it sure enough doesn't have enough moisture to do that so no hay crop this year.
n
nI have had another buyer inquire about purchasing my calves. They really must be thinking the market is going to be hot this fall for this kind of attention this early. The only problem for me is that any extra monies I receive from the higher prices is going to have to be spent on winter feed expense instead of paying down debt like it should. Oh well, that's the business I guess.
n
nOne last thing, it's my sons 5th birthday today. I really wish he understood what was going on and what it's all about. Dealing with the drought and it's consequences is easy compared to dealing with the daily worries that my autistic son will ever be able to speak or live a somewhat independent life or be able to cope with life at all. It was a year ago that he was diagnosed as autistic and I still haven't reached the acceptance phase of dealing with it. Believe me, trying to get there is what hard is all about.
n
nLife isnâ
