Cattle Prices

If a person can find enough grass this year they might not do too bad on thier cattle since it appears prices are going to be fairly good. I say that since I have all ready had buyer interest in my calves for fall delivery. I always sell my calves in the fall via private treaty instead of going to the auction yard with them. My goal is to find a buyer that wants them year after year and get in a steady relationship with them. Had a good one for a long time but they decided to get out of the feeding buisness and have not found a steady buyer since. The guy who bought my calves last year is really looking at wanting them this year now so maybe I will have a steady buyer again. About 3 weeks ago he called up and offered $108/cwt for 525 pound calves for fall delivery. I told him it was too soon to sell and to wait a while. Yesterday he called again and offered $113/cwt for the same calves. Still too soon to sell but I am really going to have to start studying the market since this is real good money for calves and is getting real tempting. Now just find the grass for them is the only worry.
n
nA market is never saturated with a good product, but it is very quickly saturated with a bad one. Henry Ford
