I can remember when a person repaired a TV or a VCR instead of replacing it was cheaper. Today it is the other way around and these items are a disposable item. Cheaper to replace than repair. Well it appears that automobiles are now going in the same direction. The article talks about how the airbags are so expensive to replace that the cost is almost not worth it. I can't think of a vehicle on the ranch that is new enough to have air bag technology on it so I am not familiar with airbags and there cost at all. I would have to agree with the point they make that the vehicles are getting so complicated that the average Joe can't work on them. That I am familiar with. I can work on a carburetor vehicle and I understand what to do, but the fuel injected stuff makes no sense to me. Then the newer they are the more wiring and switches they have that break and malfunction so the repairs are more often. Maybe I am old fashioned but for the life of me I can't figure out why they have to be so complicated. The thing that really makes my head spin is the $3000 headlights. I don't like to spend $3000 on a vehicle, let alone a headlight. I think the manufactures need to use slightly less expensive parts.
n
nThere is one advantage to having nothing, it never needs repair. Frank A. Clark
