Now here (free registration required) is another example of how the incumbent President gets a big advantage. Cut price airfare.
n
nThe Republican National Committee has estimated the cost of flying Air Force One at $35,000 or more per hour, but federal rules require the Bush-Cheney campaign to reimburse the government only for the cost of a first-class plane ticket for the president and a handful of political aides who accompany him.
n
nI can remember when President Clinton was campaigning the same type of story ran then. It's just a benefit all President's get. The real kicker is that if he schedules his political trip with an official function he flies for free. Sounds like a hell of a scam to me.
n
nPeople with advantages are loath to believe that they just happen to be people with advantages. C. Wright Mills
