NEA Labeled as Terrorist Orginazation. Whether you agree with the goals of the NEA or not, calling them a terrorist orginazation is going a bit too far. This only leads to debasing the word terrorist.
n<!–more–>
nTerrorist- One that engages in acts or an act of terrorism.
nTerrorism-The unlawful useor threatned use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
n
nNow I will admit that by glsncing at these definitions from a dictionary you might be inclined to agree with the statement. Many groups, including the NEA, try to indimidatre and coerce the government for there own political reasons. Might even want to include the Republican and Democratic parties in this definition. The thing that makes this not true is that it needs to be the unlawful or threatned use of force to make it a terrorist orginazation. As far as I've been able to remember the NEA has always tried to push its agenda in a lawful wayand they have never threatned force. They might threaten in other ways but not with the use of force. This remark by Education Secretary Rod Paige was stupid and unwarranted even if made in a joking fashion. Let's not debase a perfectly good word for purely political reasons.
n
nStupid is as stupid does. Forrest Gump
