Competitive Eating

You know I have seen this before and even now it makes me shake my head. Do you know who Sonya Thomas is? Well, I didn't either until I read <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A48-2004Jan30?language=printer">this article.</a> She is the biggest phenom on the competitive eating circuit and she weighs in at only 99 lbs. I'm sorry, I just can't get my mind around the idea of an <a href="http://www.ifoce.com/index.php">International Federation of Competitive Eating.</a> That they can draw 20,000 people to watch people eat is simply amazing. It has to be a combination of good PR and people with way too much time on their hands and no brains in their head. I could mak lofty speeches about how this celebration of overconsumption is moraly wrong in a world where many go hungry but I will refrain.
