Some new rules past down by the Agriculture Department are going to require cattle to be mouthed for age. This is the first I have heard of this. I have to agree that it is not the best way in the world to do things, but it will have to do for now. I am betting that when the Herd Identification System comes out all cattle will be required to have an individual tracking number and then they will know the age instead of having to guess.
n<!–more–>
nI am not too sure about each cow having to have an individual number but I am going to have to wait and see what they come up with. I am personally hoping you will only have to identify the herd a cow comes from and not the individual cow.
n
nI see at the bottom of the article it states that Denny Rehberg raises goats north of Billings. I knew this but it had slipped my mind. Here is something else I learned today that I did not know. Because of BSE in Canada, goats can also not be brought in from Canada. This has caused goat prices to rise. Maybe I ought to think about raising goats. Thought long enough and not a chance in Hell would I do that.
n
nTake a chance! All life is a chance.
