I was going to write about the wolf not being delisted due to Wyoming legislatures bone headed decision to classify them as a predator but decided that Ed's rant on grammarians (is this a word) warranted a comment by me. I have stayed out of the fray at City Lights on both of Ed's posts about pet peeves and grammarians since I don't feel qualified to comment on them. I did very well in school since I avoided any writing class that was not absolutely required to graduate. I always managed to pass the writing classes, by the skin of my teeth, mostly because the teachers either liked me or didn't want to put up with me again. I'm not sure which.
n
nThe proper use of the English language has always evaded my grasp and I stumble along as best I can. I don't use a grammar checker since I can never understand the rules they are trying to point out to me. Most of the time the spell checker can't even recognize my words and I have to rely on my backup spell checker (my darling wife) to help me out. I apologize to any of you grammarians (my new word for the day) out there if my writing is not up to snuff, but I am doing the best I can. I would say in my defense though that if I wrote any different than I do now, it would not be me so if you want to criticise my writing go ahead, I'm tough.
n
nTo avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.
