Reporting

It always seems interesting to me the stories that get reported in the media. You get a blizzard in Montana and unless you live here you would never know it happened. This just points out another example of this phenomenon. In the state section of the Gazette is <a href="http://www.billingsgazette.com//index.php?id=1&display=rednews/2003/12/30/build/state/44-hardinwinterstorm.inc">this story </a>about how Hardin put up around 1000 people who were stranded by the recent blizzard when the interstate was shut down. This story is not national even though it managed to raise Hardins population by over 30% in one fell swoop and they did a bang up job of accommodating the people.<br />n<!–more–><br />nThen in California and Oregon when an <a href="http://www.billingsgazette.com//index.php?id=1&display=rednews/2003/12/30/build/nation/35-i-5-snowstorm.inc">interstate is closed </a>by a snowstorm and people are stranded in it, the national news is all over it. Admittedly the cases are a little different since the motorist were stranded in their cars for awhile in CA. Many more people were stranded by our recent blizzard than reported in the CA snowstorm but no mention ever makes the national press. I am not suggesting that Hardin feel slighted since their good deed didn&acirc;
