I got this picture the other day and thought I would pose a question. I know the picture isn't the best in the world, damn smoke, but I still think you can make it out. I use an Angus base in the cows but this calf is a throwback to some breeding my dad did almost 40 years ago. Can anybody tell by looking at this calf what bulls he was using at that time? Taken 8/16/2007.
Update: All good guesses, but none right. My dad about 40 years ago used Brown Swiss bulls in the cross breeding program. They would throw calves sometimes that look just like this one. The idea was to increase the amount of milk, the butterfat content of the milk and the size of the cows. It worked on all counts.
A male cow.
Ok, if you smiled at that I'm safe if now I'll ban myself from the site for 1 week.

PS did Kim mean Limousine Liberal Cow.. you are in Montana!
Did you get a shower today? We got into a nice shower between Lovell and Greybull that followed us on south through the basin at about 5 this afternoon. Not much moisture but it sure cooled things off and cleaned the smoke and dust out of the air.
